Writing a season summarizing article from a coach’s perspective is a bit tough. You try to become an unbiased third-party source of information, but it’s impossible. As a coach, I think of all the battles overcome, all of the shoulda, coulda, woulda’s, and our program that has come so far but has so far to go.
The North Forney Girls’ Basketball team has made the 5A State Playoffs for 2 consecutive years. This year’s team was led by seniors Breana Powell, Comella Brown, and Kevara Manus. The team finished this season at 14 wins and 17 losses overall, and a 7-7 district record. State-ranked Bryan Adams (24-4) served up the eliminating game in a hard fought battle on February 16 with a final score of 58-38.
This team is defined by so much more than numbers on a page, though. They are a resilient, passionate, and loyal group of girls. A culture that, as a coach, I hope will continue to strengthen and will build a consistent output of strong young women.
I would also like to take this time to thank our parents, fans, and school. The support that was felt by this team is overwhelming, yet comforting and I know this team felt the love.
Go Falcons Go!
