The Falcon and Jackrabbit swim teams combined forces and traveled to Granbury to take on the Pirates for the first meet of the season. The boys came out in the number one spot while the girls came in a close second. This was probably the best season opener we have had in a while. Junior North captain David Miranda broke his own school record in the 100 free by .01 seconds and newcomer Andrew Gilbert of Forney High broke the school’s 500 free record, that was set last year by foreign exchange student Stefano Frau, by seven seconds. The rest of the team saw success by achieving 46 personal bests. North Forney junior Elwyn Gooch was named male swimmer of the meet and North Forney freshman Autumn Embry was named female swimmer of the meet. Both teams will travel to Fort Worth next Saturday to compete in the Yellowjacket Sprint Invitational.
